I like to go shutdown when vanquishing because there are some nasty bosses around who can wipe your team down easily.

I usually use a MoR Domination mesmer (backfire/empathy).
Usage: call target for heroes (or assign them individual) and move off-target with the mesmer skills.
The time they finished their target(s) my target would also be death or near to death.
If you have access to PvE skills, use them as you want (I like to use the mesmer sunspear skill, for example).

Yep, that's what I use in my vanquishing.

[opt][empathy][backfire][necrosis][cry of pain][mantra of recovery][ether signet][res sig]

for the res slot I sometimes swap in Drain Enchantment or Lyssa's Balance if I'm feeling confident that res won't be needed.

for the optional slot I use whatever is helpful in the area. A good one in general to use is "Finish Him!". Summon Mursaat is also helpful against melee. Pain Inverter can be useful against difficult bosses. The key, as someone above me pointed out, is learning how to direct your h/h while doing other things yourself. E.g. have them take out the melee while you spike down the monks and elementalists.
